Healing Your Sacral Chakra - Unlocking Creativity & Sensuality
The Sacral Chakra is the second of the seven chakras. Located just below the navel, right in the centre of your lower belly and in your back within the lumbar region. It is represented by the colour orange and the element of water. This chakra governs your emotional well-being, your sensitivity, your sexuality, intimacy as well as your creativity, self-expression, and your relationship with others
Signs Of An Imbalanced Sacral Chakra
A blocked sacral chakra can be caused by many experiences in life, including body shame, a rigid upbringing, sexual abuse, or toxic relationships, all of which restrict the flow of life force energy.
A person who has an imbalance may display behaviors such as detachment, indulgence, detachment, aggressiveness, oversensitivity, fear, anxiety, and poor boundaries.
Physical symptoms like anemia, hypoglycemia, back pain, joint pain, fatigue, kidney and spleen problems, constipation, premenstrual syndrome, and reproductive issues can also indicate an imbalance.
How Do You Balance Your Sacral Chakra?
The first step towards healing your sacral chakra is to simply acknowledge that your physical and energetic body needs support. A healing practice involves opening, clearing, purifying, supporting, and strengthening the sacral chakra within our bodies.
The following ideas can help promote balance and harmony in this chakra and awaken your creative flow.
Use essential oils such as ginger, patchouli, ylang-ylang, bergamot, sandalwood, clary sage, jasmine, orange and rose.
As the sacral chakra is linked to the element of water, try swimming, sitting by the pool, or taking a bath with some essential oils. Also make sure you drink plenty of water too to keep hydrated.
When meditating visualise the colour orange to heal and activate the sacral chakra.
To heal and activate the energy flow through your sacral, incorporate subtle or bright shades of orange into your life, your office/workspace, and home, or even your wardrobe!
Use sacral crystals such as, carnelian, orange calcite, jasper, moonstone or amber. You can use these to soak up their good vibes while meditating or carrying them throughout the day.
Incorporate positive affirmations into your daily ritual. Repeat your affirmations three times out loud, in your head, or by writing them down.
Below you can find some examples of affirmations to help restore balance:
- I deserve to enjoy pleasure and have my needs met.
- My life is filled with relationships with loving, supportive people.
- I flow with inspiration and creativity.
- I love and except my body
As this chakra is all about creative expression, it makes sense that doing something creative would open up this energetic portal. You can colour, draw, cook, bake, garden, or do whatever feels fun to you. Each individual’s creativity is unique, it’s up to you!
