Transformation isn’t always a dramatic shift or an instant awakening. Sometimes, it’s found in the quiet moments of life, moments that don’t fit into the neat boxes of what we expect change to look like. It’s the fatigue that forces you to slow down, the pain in your body as it finally lets go of years of suppressed trauma, or even the sudden sensitivity to something you once consumed without a second thought, prompting you to finally pay attention to the signals your body has been sending you.
This is somatic healing.
For much of my life, I lived in a state of attachment, stress, and survival. I was taught that my worth was tied to how much I gave, whether through money, physical energy, or emotional labour. My value was measured by what I could give to others, and I allowed external circumstances to define my sense of self.
But as I continue on my journey of transformation, I realise the truth: healing isn’t just an intellectual or spiritual process. It must also occur in the body.
The real magic of healing happens when we stop separating the body from the mind and spirit. True alchemy occurs when we integrate all aspects of ourselves. Our bodies hold memories, emotions, and trauma that need to be released for us to truly transform.
Somatic healing allows us to access those layers of stored emotion, to acknowledge and release the pain that’s been buried for far too long. We don’t need to relive the trauma in order to heal it. Instead, we return to the body—listening, feeling, and allowing it to guide us through the process of transformation.
When we ground ourselves in the physical realm, we make space for real, embodied change. This is where true alchemy happens. It’s about connecting with the wisdom of the body, understanding that our physical experience is just as integral to the healing process as the mind or spirit.
